Odorheiu Secuiesc, Heart of Jesus Chapel

The small room-size (3.5x3.5 m) chapel had been probably built in the XII-XIII. centuries then in the XVI century it was renewed. Its painted coffered ceiling from 1677 is preserved in a museum of Budapest the one that may be seen is a copy of it. Its roof and fence is made of tile.

After the legend the fortress of Buda brother of the Hunnish king Atilla was against the chapel on the Budavár what was ruined by the Tartars in 1241. Once the (szekely) driven by the Tartars refuged on the riuns of the Budavár and from there a (székely) who discharging an arrow in name of Jesus hit the heart of the Tartar khan who stood in front of the tent. As a memory of that hit was built in that place the Jesus Chapel. Above the circular-wall there is the year 1771.
