Turda town located south of Cluj-Napoca, has been inhabited since ancient times. Between 100 and 271 in the old settlement was Potaissa Roman administration. The history of the village was closely linked to salt water. Exploiting this deposit was started in Roman times and around 1853 the city became the center of all the salt mines in Transylvania, based in Salt Office current museum building. Between 1320 and 1576, 128 Dias of Transylvania were held in Turda. During the Kingdom of Hungary was Turda County resident and 1876 Torda-Aranyos County resident.
