Bănița, Banitei gorges

Banite Gorge is just 8 km away from Petrosani, towards Hațeg on the DN66 national road. The Băniței Gorges were formed by the collapse of the ceiling of a cave. Water has contributed to the spectacular gorges, a length of 250-300m.

The corridor, guarded by the tall walls of limestone, is narrow and the water dug some very interesting ditches into the walls of the keys. Visiting is recommended only in quiet summer days without rains and waterproof footwear because the keys run through the water!

For the Băniței Keys we start from Petrosani, get to the serpentine and at a moment to a GPL station (right). Next to it begins the road to the former Tourist Cottage, where we can leave the car. We cross the yard, we cross a barrier and we follow the path up to Cheile Bănitei.
