The Turzii Gorge

Acces to Cheile Turzii:

1. Leave DN75 road in the direction of Cheia, and continue towards the quarry.

2. Leave E60 (DN81) towards Tureni, the western side of the crevice is at Petresti village.

The Turzii Gorge are laying along the Hasdate stream on a length of 3.5km with height and abrupt walls, towers, abutments, karst plateaus and caves.

On the right versant there is 17 while on the left one 5 caves. If we go on against the tide's direction welcomes us the view of the left wall, dominated by the Yellow Tower. On the other side we may admire the Walls with stairs, with the biggest debris at its bottom: Grohota of the Forest.

It's liked by the alpinists The Huge Wall, height of 200 m, beside other important routes. Those who are amateurs in escalade may have a look with trust at the sides: www.roclimbing.ro/traseul-turnul-ascutit-cheile-turzii. The archeologists discovered in the defile's caves remains of human and animal harbor. The excavations exposed rests of mammals from the brazen, bronze and iron age. The Turzii Defiles became in 1938 the status of natural reservation and it's included in the lists of U.N.E.S.C.O. between the most important natural monuments of the world.

Attention! At the entrance - from Turda - in Turda Gorges to buy a ticket. Its value in 2014 is 4 lei / pers.
