The Danube Delta with its 3446 kmp is the bird's heath. Providing food and nesting conditions in the vast expanse of reeds here reach millions of birds in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean.

During the autumn and spring migrations we can see the immense population and the great variety of species that meet here. Most birds are migratory: great egret, ferruginous duck, swan, great cormorant, white Egyptian vulture migrate from Asia.

The winter swan, the black whistle, the slime, the big whiskers, the wild duck migrate from Siberian region, the pelican and the curling pelican, cricket, white stork, cocor and the shoreline from the south. The red chest, woodcock, black-headed duck, and the rag migrates from the Arctic region.

Ornithologists have identified over 325 species, 70 are outside Europe. Of these 218 species nest here, the rest of 111 species pass through the delta and remain different periods of autumn, winter or spring. In the Danube Delta, 60% of the world's litle cormorant population is found.

In the winter season, the delta hosts large groups of swans and geese, including almost the entire population of red-necked goose. The nesting period is the attraction of the delta. The infernal noise and the flight of thousands of birds feeding their offspring attract not only the ornithologists but also the photographers, or the simple lovers of nature. The Danube Delta has entered UNESCO World Heritage since 1991 and is a national park and reserve.
