Călimănești, Museum of the Cozia Monastery

In 1583 the abbot Amphilohie built a chapel (which bears his name) and the buildings on the eastern side of the enclosure, the royal houses and the Mircea's gazebo, which is home to guests. The existence of over 650 years of the Cozia monastery has led to the gathering of many important objects.

In the mirror of Mircea, in six rooms on the ground floor and floor, the museum was organized in 1983. We can see a collection of old icons, painted on wood and glass from the XIV-XIX centuries, old church objects, ancient prints in Romanian, but with Cyrillic, Greek and Slavonic prints.

Manuscripts, even the Gospels locked in metal and precious stones, are exposed. We can see pieces of the original stone that covered the tomb of Mircea. From the windows of the museum floor there is a beautiful view of Olt.
