Dranko fortress close to the village Drencova is situated on the bank of the Danube. Possibly it was constructed around the year 1419. During 1924-35 it was the propriety of german riders, and from 1457 belonged to the famous Hunyady family. Being a fortress of customs it has been attacked several times, occupied and destroyed by the turcs. The exact date is still unknown, when this happened. Documents talk about it as it used to be 20-25 m long and 15 m high, and the walls were 1.5 m wide. Since Portile de Fier was built, this fortress has been flooded with water and since then it is perishing.

Nowadays it is still visible 25-30 m of the ruins of the fortress in the Danube. This is all what remained out of it. The walls are 15 m long, and have certain wholes within. The other walls are long under water already.
