Zlatița monastery

This monastery along with its chapels called Saint Simon and Sava is to be found on the right side of Nerei merely 3 km away from Cusici. It is thought to be built in the 13th century, and as Saint Sava Nemanici the protector of serbians gave the name to it. A document from 1775 talks about three monasteries in 1496: Bazias, Cutici, Zlatita. Between 1569-1579 there were three nuns living there.

The church was of medium height, depicted nicely and it was built of stones and nicely surrounded with a wall. In 1771 it still existed but in the year 1798 only the ruins of it remained. In 2003 some archeologists found out that it was built in the 15th century, and with the sizes 17.5m+ 7.5 m. twice was it rebuilt after the hard time in 1794 and 1848 the revolution.

In 1848 the four nuns moved to Bazias, and they reactivated the monastery there. In 1772 the two monasteries of Bazias and Clitici were put together with that of Zlatita and the nuns moved here finally. In 1775 the three monasteries had altogether 8 inhabitants. The actual church was constructed between 1760-1770. It can be visited on the 28th June, as it has no more nuns in there.
