In Romania are hundreds of cultural ensembles which keep the traditional folk costumes and dances from this region alive.

Chindia folk ensemble - Ploiești

The Chindia folk dance group from Pitesti city was established in 1972, and inherited the dances from the refinery dance group,founded in 1948. Functioning at the House of Culture, under the leaderships Vera Făcăianu choreographer, and Alison Dragan orchestra conductor, Chindia whole became known at home and abroad, taking part in numerous festivals in Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, France, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Turkey.

In making performances, and a richer repertoire of the ensemble was aided by master choreographers, conductors and composers: Theodor Vasilescu, Stephen George, George Colevaș Constantine Arvinte Louis Paceag, Marin Barbu.
