Timișoara, The Romano-Catholic Church from the Mehala

The Romano-Catholic church from Mehala with the patron saint Virgin Mary was built in 1887 with the district's inhabitants' donations. It was built in a Neo-Gothic style with Neo-Romanic elements. It has a primal and two extra altars executed in Gothic style by the sculptor Ferdinand Stufflesser from the Southern Tyrol. The primal altar's painting illustrating the Virgin with her child in her arms was remade in 1975, based on an old photo.

Above the altar there is a mural painting portraying Jesus on the cross. The painted windows were realized in Munchen. The organ was built in 1902 by Leopold Wegenstein, the master from Timișoara. The masses are held in Hungarian, German and Romanian with the possibility of being held in Bulgarian also once in a week.
