The castle Coltesti

The castle was built between 1253-1275 under Béla IV. Its first mention goes back to 1285. It was first ruined probably at the beginning of the XIV century, as a result of a siege. The Torockay noble family rebuilds the castle in the second half of the XV century. During the rebellion of Dózsa György in 1514 the serfs conquered the castle and burnt the lord's documents. Toroczkay Ferenc was provided with a new deed of gift by king Lajos II. in 1516. In 1707 the legion of general Tige makes a cannon attack and seizes the fortress located in this remote place. Before they leave they blow up the walls of the fortress and burn down the village.

The Revolt of Horea, Cloșca and Crișan has also brought destruction, as well as the war of independence in which it was Avram Iancu's people who had burnt down the village. At peresent the ruins of what used to be a tich-walled castle with 4-5 storey high towers, oval protecting walls covering a 12x12 m area quadrangle, are fighting their battle agains time.
