Târnovița, Catholic church

According to legend, the first church in Tarnovita was on a small hill in the cemetery today. The second church was built in 1796, and the current one was built between 1802 and 1804. The choir shows the year 1798. For a long time it was the branch of the church from Zetea.

The church originally had a shingled roof which was replaced in 1850 with tile. In 1898-99 the sacristy was enlarged. As it appears from the inscription above the entrance to the church, the patron saint of the church is St. Stephen. Inside is a main altar and a secondary one.

In the middle of the U-shaped choir is the organ made by István Kolonics and renovated in 2015. In the church tower there are three bells, the oldest cast in 1837.
