Zetea, Catholic church

Zetea population in the Middle Ages was Catholic. The church from XIV century was built on the old site of the village. A medieval stone rosette is preserved in the tower current church. A stone dated 1615 church sanctuary probably indicates the year of construction of the second church.

Here the Protestantism not caught the ground, in the sixteenth century was driven from the village the priest, and restoring the Catholic creed. In memory of the event on the Székelyudvarhely procession by the Lord's day, is led of Zeteas peoples.

The church burned down in 1661 by Tartar was renovated in 1663. In 1755 it was enlarged, but in 1896 they decided to build a new church, which was started in 1913 by architect Károly Haberstumph. In 1914 already had roof and the walls were plastered. In autumn 1918 the priest is killed, and the work slowed down. Finally the church is finished in the summer of 1923. It has three ships and a capacity of over 1,000 people. Two small towers tower has a height of 45 m. Place the last church is marked with a cross.
