In the 1960s, geological drilling was carried out in the valley of the Vargyas brook, located 2 km from Vlăhița. A high-pressure thermal water erupted from one of the wells in 1964, but was blocked. Drilling was resumed by the Harghita Geological Research and Exploration Unit in 1973-74.

This time, the thermal water with a temperature of 25 degrees, erupted on the right bank of the stream, from a depth of 276m, with a flow rate of 25 liters / second. Here, at an altitude of 824m, a pool was built in 1976, the place being known as Baia Majzos. The Perla Vlăhiței resort has developed around it, which currently has two swimming pools that also work in winter and a camping place, being ideal for those who want to relax.
