The Reformed Church of Băbești was built in 1857, instead of a wooden church built around 1700 and destroyed in a massive fire in 1850. The services were kept for 8 years in a hoop. The new church was built between 1858 and 1864. Year 1864 inscribed above the entrance is the date on which the vessel with the cassette ceiling was put into service. Unfortunately, in 1872 the church was devastated by a new fire. After the renovation, the Craftsman Reszegey Mihály made the banks and the casted ceiling in 1875. The tower was built between 1887 and 1888.

The church was initially covered with shingle, and from 1911 with blackboard. Ceilings, consisting of 138 boxes decorated with rosettes was attacked by decay of wood and fungi. Cristina Busuioc and Capotescu Dinu from the Satu Mare County Museum came to the church's help, and in 2010 the restoration of the cassettes began.
