Porumbești, Greek-catholic church

The Greek Catholic Cidreag village was built between 1905-1907 in place of another wooden church, which was kept iconostasis. After the rise of the current church the iconostasis was adapted to the present dimensions and embedded in a new decoration.

The diaconal doors and some icons have been replaced. Believers are descendants Ruthenian landlord Perényi moved here in 1736 after the Tartar invasion (1717). As time passed they learned Hungarian and Greek Catholic religion. The church is 28x12 m and is covered with iron.

The interior paintings were made by Tóth Gyula. The church built by Italian craftsmen is more similar to the cathedral in Uzhgorod.
