Gherța Mare, Orthodox church

The Orthodox Church of Gherta Mare was built in 1893. The Iconostasis was made by Professor Haiduc Aurel in 1955. The painting was made by Gabriel Lucian I. Dogărescu from Bucharest, helped by his students Olivian-Gabriel Dogărescu and Scherciuc Nicolae.

The facade and portico with arches and columns were made recently. The timer is framed by two octagonal tower in the upper part, with onion bulb sheet roof. The paintings are embedded in vegetation motifs.

The most valuable pieces are old iconostasis icons dating from the eighteenth century and kept in the Satu Mare County Museum.
