Toplita emergence, Pădurea Craiului Mountains

Roșia Toplița fount is the provenance of Toplița vale from the basin of Rosia valley. The waters of Albioarei, Tinoasei and Ponorul slopes, and those of the Ciur-Ponor cave get here, as well as the losses and the infiltrations from the surface.

All these waters come to the surface after passing through the cave from the Roșia Toplița emergence through a strong karst spring. After the confluence with a permanent spring situated at the foundation of the side, it drifts towards the waters that come from the Albioarei embankment.

In freshet conditions the rise of the flows is sudden, while the recurrence to the medium flows is slow. In periods of prolonged drought the course of water from the cave of the Toplița emergence completely disappears. The portal of the cave from the Roșia emergence is at the basis of a steep.

The subterranean void which is 30x20 m, is crossed by a temporary course of water that derives from a spring. At the freshets a lake which can reach the depth of 1,2m is formed. In drought time the water reaches the surface with approximately 200 m downstream the cave.
