Corund, Catholic church

The Catholic Church in Corund is the third in chronological order. Nothing is known about the first except the name of one of the priests. The second was the victim of history: the church belonged reform period since the Reformation, when Catholics when the Unitarians.

In 1720, during the Counter Catholics they regained their church that was gradually deteriorated until the early twentieth. As all the surrounding villages built their churches, the faithful of Corund demolished their old church and built, between 1910 and 1911, the one still visible today.

For the 2011 centenary of the church, renovations began in 2009. The exterior was completed in 2010 and the interior in 2011. The church, which can accommodate 700 believers, has a main altar and two secondary altars. From the pulpit 4 wooden evangelists look down.

At the top of the baptismal font, which is the same age as the church, is a statuary group. The organ was donated to the church by the faithful of Seleucus after they bought another. It was made at the end of the 19th century in the workshop of the organ and piano producer Jónás István from Oradea.
