Corund, Aragon deposits

The snail hill received the status of a geological reserve in 1980. The hill was formed here and continues to form until there is water under pressure. Aragonite is formed in cold carbonated springs with a high content of calcium and salt, through the loss of carbon dioxide.

It crystallizes from water flowing into cracks. The crystals continue to grow and advance until they join and block the path of the water. With the water under pressure, he looks for another crack in which the crystals begin to form again.

Here we can see aragonite white, yellow, gray, black, rust. Most are striped, but we can also see some with a radial structure that have another focal point in the middle: a tuff or a piece of wood. Here is the largest aragonite deposit in the country.
