The first time here was a fortress from 1278, when András of the Kaplony family upset King László IV, throwing him with his buzzard. The King took his fortress and donated it to Transylvanian voivode Móricz Miklós.

The most famous family member was Meggyesi Simon, the banner of Dalmatia. He had a family Bathory process resulting in lost half of the field. However, between 1429 and 1492 the fortress remained with the Meggyesi family, from whom the marriage reached the Morócz family.

Morócz István dies in 1493, and having no heir, the fortress is occupied by Báthory István and András. The Báthory family has ruled the city for centuries. The last Báthory, András having no son, the city is inherited by his daughter, and in 1630 his son Lónyay Zsigmond.

Lónyai surrounded the city with trenches and fortified walls with towers and drawbridges. In 1643 the city's inherited Lónyay Anna, wife of János Kemény. At its instigation, local landowners succeed in 1669 to drive away the German patrol patrol from Satu Mare.

Lonyai Anna was accused of lack of loyalty, her property was confiscated, and the city destroyed. What's left of it was destroyed by fire in 1707. Field Lonyai being mortgaged Baron Ferenc Wesselényi in 1740 it redeemed, and instead built a castle fortress. From the Wesselényi family, the castle was inherited by the Bethlen and Teleki families. They were the masters of the castle in the nineteenth century. The construction was fired at the end of the Second World War by the withdrawn Germans. Since then the city has been degraded, only some conservation works have been carried out.
