Sălașuri, Catholic church

The history of the old church in Sălașuri is not known. It is only known that in 1747 they had at least one house of prayer, because the inhabitants insisted that the priest from Vețca hold services at their place at least once a year. The current church was built in 1912.

The new church has a fortified nave with buttresses and an octagonal tower with two bells. The organ was built in 1913 by Angszter József and his son from Pécs. The statue of Mary in the churchyard is special because the Sibiu craftsman who made it in the 16th century made only 3 such statues.

Going down three steps we reach the churchyard where we can see the Statue of Mary and the way of the cross. Another statue of Mary can be seen in a niche above the entrance.
