Șaros pe Târnave, Evangelical fortified church

The village of Saros on Târnave, documented in 1282, shelters a fortified evangelical church built in the first half of the 15th century, instead of the one built a century earlier destroyed by the Turks. In 1483, the surrounding wall was built with five towers of defense, which saw holes and pitch holes.

The clock tower is built in the 16th century. In 1772 the ceiling was renovated, and in 1774 Johan Folbart built the baroque altar. The organ is the work of Friedrich and Wilhelm Maetz of Biertan. On the side are two wooden balconies with benches. In 2005, the defense wall was rebuilt by the Saxon community, which left these lands during the Communist era. They are the ones who are still taking care of this church that has risen above the village for more than 500 years.
