Slimnic, Evangelical fortified church

The Evangelical Church of Slimic is at the foot of the hill under the citadel. It was built in the Gothic style in the 15th century.

The baroque altar was built in 1773, the pulpit in 1759, and the metal rail of the pulpit staircase in 1792. In 1733, with the help of Emperor Maria Theresa, an organ was built in the workshops of Johannes Hann's master in Sibiu. The paintings of the church were made by Stephan Adolph Valpegi of Mediaș. Valuable objects, a crucifix made by sophisticated goldsmiths, and a golden silver bowl are at the Bruckenthal Museum. The collection of 14 carpets was sold in the interwar period to pay church and school renovation.
