Piatra Altarului cave

The Piatra Altarului cave is to be found in the right side of Ponor valley. It was discovered in 1984, has 4 levels, and the total length of channels reaches 3146m.

It is affluently ornamented, a nice cave, where the calcit creatures` diversity make everyone amazed. The most famous halls are the Palace Hall and the Way to Paradise. There are several famous creatures as well: calcit macro crystals, triangle shaped calcit crystals, monocrystal stalgtits, cave gems, perls etc.

The cave is under extra conservation, thus it can not be visited. It is an A category cave, belonging to the caves which have an outsating scientific or personal character and belong to the national and international heritage of caves.
