Segesvár, Sighișoara, Schaessburg, arise upon Tarnava with its secessionist castles, with its castle-wall having 10 watch-towers, multicultural habitants who can live together in harmony. In the past the Hungarian kingdom took here the Saxons to protect its borders. The living conditions give secure establishment not only for the Saxons, but for the Romanians, Hungarians, Jews, Gypsies well, who has given an example of peaceful cohabitation since then. This is a town were you can't mope. The near the variety of sights in each year summer in Cloister Church and the Mountainy Church gives place every Sunday to the organ concert, in August there is going to take place the Muzica Academica festival and the Pro Etnica Festival, in July the Medieval Festival.

1141-1161 Géza II colonized the Saxons in Sighisoara

1191 - the first Saxon wooden fortress was built

1350 - construction of the walls and the fortified church begins

1421 - Vlad Țepes is born

1438 - the fortress was devastated by the Turks

1522 - attestation of the first school in the hill

1600 - the city is conquered by Mihai Viteazul later by Basta.

1603 - Székely Mózes with the the Turks attacks the fortress

1605 - Bocskai attacked the fortress

1630 - was chosen Rákóczi György I. principe of Transylvania.

1662 - the fortress was attacked by Kemény János

1646 - plague epidemic

1676 - a large fire

1706 - the curses of Pekry Lőrinc destroy 5 bastions, 9 remain

1709 - plague epidemic

1788 - a large fire

1849 - General Bem's army enters the city

1849 - near the town was the Battle of Sighisoara in 1849.

1876 - the town becomes the residence of Târnava Mare County

1999 - the historic center becomes part of the world heritage
