Schola Rivulina was the first school in Baia Mare and the whole Transylvania. The reformer Kopácsi István, after conquering with his doctrines the faithful of the city in 1547, becomes the first rector of the reformed high school founded by him. According to the old name of the city: Rivulus Dominarum, the school becomes Schola Rivulina. In a short time it becomes a middle school with a high school rank, which has trained priests and teachers. Kopácsi taught logic, Greek and theology. The school functioned until 1755, anti-reform imperialist actions led to its closure. Many graduates continued their studies abroad, such as printer, publisher and engraver of letters Miklós Kis Tótfalusi.
