Surduc is a locality situated in Sălaj county, with a population of 1222 inhabitants.

Surduc locality certified since 1554. Locality name shows that first inhabitants were Slovacs. In 1641 was Csáky's estate, became known because of Jósika Miklós baron, first romantic hungarian novelist, his life closely related to the castle

After his father death in 1824, settleed down here in 1834, dedicated to the literature. Castle state is relativelly good. Old beautiful gate was replaced with a dull concrete frame, wonderful park is garden. The heirs didn't request castle's retrocession, used now by Agromec with the afferent field.
