Lăpuș gorge

The Lăpuș Gorge or Lăpuș Defile are located in Maramureș, between Răzoare and Remetea Chioarului. It stretches over a length of 36 km, and on a length of 25 km between Groape and the Stream, it is a natural reserve.

The gorge includes canyon-like areas, between Vima Mică - Sălnița or Butea River - La Spreunata and has rocky cliffs in the slopes: Custura Cetățului and Custura Vimei, has rocks, rock spurs, caves and waterfalls. The largest,Pișătoarea waterfall, is located near the village of Preluca Veche, rising from Piatra Cerbului. The big elbow, the Gropiței Eye and Custura Vimei are near Vima Mică.

Keys offer the possibility of practicing rafting and sport fishing, as well as camping areas. Those who practice rafting must follow the weather forecast. Usually spring water is very high and very small in August. The gully, in some places, is very narrow, with sloping slope and cliffs. The phone signal is not in the gorge! The specialists of this sport define a hard, big water trail between Sălnița and Buteasa Râu, approx. 14 km ww 2-3, rest zwc-ww2. Access by car is possible to miss in several places: Vima Mică, Sănnița, Răzoare, Remea Chioarului and Ciolt.
