Jibou

Jibou locality situated on left bank of Someșului under Rákoczy montain is certified since 1205. In 1584 Báthori István voivode donated Jibou locality and Hodod locality to Wesselényi Ferenc who built here a castle in each locality. Jibou was the scene of a crucial historical events: here Rákóczy Ferencz IInd was defeated in 1705 by imperial troop, losing definitive the independence of Transylvania, laid down their arms the revolutionaries in 1849. In Jibou was born and died Wesselényi Miklós.
